ScoreDoom 3.0R4 Gets A New Look

I finally got around to fixing ScoreDoom to use GZDoom’s awesome alternative HUD. Its a much slicker and informative layout. The old HUD I never really liked much.

3.0R4 also awards total kills, total secrets, total barrels and total items bonuses as they are accomplished, but are still scored at the end of the level.

Here is a preview with a description:

New Hud

The new HUD is built using GZDoom's awesome Alternative HUD.

K, I, S, B are the Kill, Item, Secret and Barrel counts for the level.

LS, WS are the Level Scores and Wad Scores. If you are taking on a hi score in single player, or trailing in co-op, the leader’s name is shown along with the spread that you are behind by.

TL is the time left before the scoredoom par time is hit for the level, whereby you will get serious penalties for not finishing the level.

MD is the game mode in single player. It can be RG for Regular mode, or a combination of HC for Hardcore mode, PS for Pistol Start mode, NI for No-Infighting mode (also means monsters dont damage each other as well)

    • Hi, no it was not. Also you can keep using 3.0r3c with the hi score server if you still have save games you need to use to complete wad attacks.

      3.0r3c save games are not compatible with 3.0r4. Also you should be using 3.0r4b since I did a patch to the update.

      So to use the new HUD you need to be on 3.0r4b, but to use old save games, you should keep playing with 3.0r3c

    • Ok, there is another patch out. 3.0r4c. This fixes the bug where the All Barrels Blown message keeps re-ocurring in some instances. You can still use 3.0r4b, but that message will get annoying :P .
      That should be it.

  1. Hi, I’m trying to get online Hi-Scoring working. The game says that I have to set the sd_custom_replacements variable to false, but when it is false, the game crashes whenever I start a new game. Am I missing something? This is from a fresh install, too.

    • Okay, scratch that. The setting doesn’t matter, what mattered is that it was being used with Ultimate Doom. Works fine with Doom II, crashes with Ultimate Doom. I still have no idea why it happens though.

        Oh jeez, my apologies. that sd_custom_replacements message is archaic.
        I did a fresh install with udoom’s doom.wad and connected fine, and sd_custom_replacements is true for me. And yes, I wouldn’t be surprised if it may have crashed if false. I need to remove that from the config file. Set it back to true and try again.
        The first time you run scoredoom, it will fail to connect to hi score server by default. Its a bit quirky, but after you set up your username & pwd, and other setting you should be all set from there.

    • No. it is built on an older version of gzdoom (1.029) that uses I believe zdoom 2.2x.
      I have adding some new code from zdoom 2.5.
      You will have some problems running zpack pk3 for instance.
      The main aim of the mod is for vanilla & boom wads, though of course zdoom wads like hell factory and some legacy wads will run fine too.

  2. All I’m seeing in the alternate hud are the Kill, Secret, and barrel counts, none of the other ScoreDoom data that the screenshot shows. I stilll have to use the regular HUD for that What gives?

  3. Hey I was wondering since there is chain kills in scoredoom, could you guys add a kill counter that shows how much enemies we killed in a row and it resets after like 3 seconds or something. That would be pretty cool if you know what I mean.

    • Hi,
      There is a small patch coming out for a small HUD bug whereby the 100% monster kill end of level bonus message keeps getting repeated in certain situations.
      So, this idea of yours I think is a fun and quick addition, and will be added too. Patch should be out by next weekend sometime, along with this change.
